CHPR is Open for Business

While the majority of our terrific staff will continue to work remotely to help limit the spread of COVID-19, CHPR is continuing to conduct research projects, inform health-related policies, and support faculty in submitting new grant proposals. All staff members, working remotely or in CHPR offices (following the UC Davis COVID-19 office guidelines and mask policy), can be reached during work hours by email or by phone. We are not currently holding in-person meetings in our conference rooms. Virtual project meetings are being held as needed.

 For additional questions or requests please contact our main office at [email protected].

We appreciate your understanding during this time of transition and hope that you and your loved ones stay healthy.

The Center for Healthcare Policy and Research (CHPR) is a UC Davis funded Center that facilitates research, promotes education, and informs policy about health and healthcare through interdisciplinary and collaborative research and training. Our faculty members represent a broad spectrum of disciplines from UC Davis and other public and private organizations.

Designated as an organized research unit by the University of California’s Board of Regents in 1994, we support investigators pursuing original research and translating findings to support evidence-based policy making.

Under the leadership of Joy Melnikow, M.D., M.P.H., we support innovative research and education in comparative effectiveness, health disparities, and cost and quality of care.  Our work informs health policy in local, state, federal, and international policy arenas as well as the UC Davis community.

Our primary objectives are to:

  1. Develop and support interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects related to our mission;
  2. Promote education and career development for scholars with interest in health services and health policy research
  3. Engage in the synthesis, interpretation, and dissemination of research findings that assist healthcare policy formulation and improve health services and outcomes.
